Vietnam, Myanmar seek to foster defense relations
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), welcomed Major General Thet Phone, Commander of the Yangon Region Military Command, Myanmar, in Hanoi on July 29.
At the reception, General Minh held that in the context of sound overall relations between Vietnam and Myanmar, the bilateral defense ties have been developing in an effective manner.
The host highly valued the cooperation between the Hanoi Capital Command and the Yangon Military Region Command over the past time, contributing to the development of the bilateral defense cooperation.

He affirmed that the leadership of the Defense Ministry and the VPA’s General Staff would create more favorable conditions for the two commands to further expand their cooperation.
For his part, General Phone expressed his impression of the VPA’s development so far.
Hailing the development of the Myanmar-Vietnam defense ties, the guest wanted Myanmar to learn more experience in force building from the Hanoi Capital Command in particular and the VPA in general.
