Vietnam, India to cement bilateral defense ties
PANO – Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, hosted a reception for a delegation of the National Defense Academy of India, led by its senior lecturer Shri Abhay Tripathi, on August 26.

At the reception, General Tien spoke highly of the significance of the bilateral defense ties, considering it a pillar of the Vietnam-India relationship.
Particularly, the two sides have regularly maintained bilateral cooperation mechanisms, such as high-level delegation exchange, deputy-ministerial-level defense policy dialogue, joint working group meeting on bilateral defense cooperation and consultation of navy, army and air-force staff officers.
General Tien further said both defense ministries have actively implemented cooperation contents articulated in the signed agreements, especially in the fields of training, strategic research, mutual support at multilateral forums and UN peacekeeping operations.
For his part, Mr. Shri Abhay Tripathi hoped that the Vietnamese defense leadership would continuously support cooperation activities between the two militaries, contributing to enhancing the friendship, mutual understanding and mutual trust for the sake of the two countries’ cooperation in the time to come.
