Defense Minister receives Indian diplomat
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense, hosted a reception for newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma on August 23 in Hanoi.
At the reception, General Lich highlighted the practical outcomes of the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership and defense cooperation over time, especially in delegation exchange, cooperation among services, training, and defense industry, among others.
The Vietnamese Defense Minister said that the two countries’ potential for bilateral cooperation remains huge and hoped that in his new position, Ambassador Pranay Verma will make active contributions to lifting Vietnam-India relations in general and cooperation between the two militaries in particular to a higher level.
Sharing the same view as General Ngo Xuan Lich, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma expressed his admiration in the development of Vietnam-India relations, affirming that India considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. He added that India will support Vietnam’s initiatives and efforts when it takes ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020.
He shared that in his term of office he will prioritize promoting defense cooperation between Vietnam and India.
