The Vietnamese Defense Minister hoped that in the coming time, the two countries will further promote their defense relations, especially in fields of military medicine, search and rescue work, natural disaster response, and cleaning and mitigating explosive remnants and Agent Orange/dioxin left behind from the war in Vietnam.

For his part, Ambassador Kunio underlined that Japan highly appreciates the role of Vietnam in the region, adding that in recent years, the Vietnam-Japan defense cooperation has been seen as a pillar in the bilateral relationship.

He also held that Japan is considering measures to further cooperate and support Vietnam in dealing with war aftermaths.

* After that, General Lich welcomed Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Dash Bilegdorj.

The host underlined that though it has achieved positive developments over the past years, the defense cooperation agreement between Vietnam and Mongolia has not yet achieved the potentials which both sides had expected.

General Lich believed that in his term of office, Ambassador Bilegdorj will contribute to enhancing the existing mutual trust and understanding between the two countries in general and the two armies in particular.

Additionally, the Vietnamese Defense Ministry will closely work with their Mongolian counterparts to fully realize the targets of their reached agreements, particularly in delegation exchanges at all levels, military medicine and logistics, and experience-sharing in the context of UN peacekeeping operations.

* On the same day, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy-Chief-of-the-General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army received Major General David Medina, Director of the Military Doctrine Department under the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense.

At the reception, General Minh briefed the guest on Vietnam’s defense policy and stressed that General Medina’s visit to Vietnam will help beef up the bilateral defense cooperation in the time to come.
