At the reception, VNDPKO Director, Major General Hoang Kim Phung affirmed that UN peacekeeping operations is one of the major spheres in the Vietnam-Cambodia defense cooperation.

Since Vietnam is active in this field, Cambodia has expressed a willingness to assist and share experiences to help Vietnam build and improve the capabilities of its peacekeeping forces, especially with military engineers, he added.

For his part, NPMEC Head, General Sem Sovanny hoped that both sides would continue to exchange experiences in areas of strength as they relate to UN peacekeeping operations, such as the deployment of military police and the rate of female participation in peacekeeping forces.

They also discussed training contents, training manuals, and specialized training courses on UN peacekeeping operations for peacekeepers who will serve as staff officers, civil-military coordinators, and logistics officers.

In addition, General Phung wanted the VNDPKO and the NPMEC to further promote their cooperative relations in UN peacekeeping operations, such as personnel training courses hosted by either Vietnam, Cambodia or a third party, and experience sharing programs at UN peacekeeping missions.
