U.S. presents COVID-19 laboratory equipment to Vietnamese MND
PANO - The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi handed over COVID-19 laboratory equipment to Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) on July 6 in Hanoi.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Head of the Military Medical Department under the General Department of Logistics Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien sincerely thanked the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi for the gift.
According to General Kien, since the pandemic broke out, the U.S. Government has supported Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19 through different forms and channels. The support demonstrates the effective and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
He affirmed that the COVID-19 laboratory equipment will help the Vietnam People’s Army raise its testing capability, so as to respond to the pandemic in an effective and timely manner.
For his part, Christopher Klein, a representative from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, emphasized that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. and Vietnam have worked closely together to combat the pandemic.
On the occasion, the diplomat thanked Vietnam for presenting medical supplies to assist the U.S. in the COVID-19 pandemic fight.
Emphasizing the importance of testing and tracing COVID-19 cases, Christopher Klein affirmed that he believes the COVID-19 laboratory equipment will help Vietnam raise its pandemic response capabilities and through cooperation, Vietnam and the U.S. will overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic.
