Addressing the event, Gen. Tan affirmed that this was the great honor of the officers as well as the Ministry of National Defense. Therefore, they should do their utmost with the highest determination to accomplish all assigned missions.
Meanwhile, Gen. Tan requested the officers to strictly adhere to the Party, State and military’s guidelines on external affairs, follow military disciplines, U.N. regulations and the host country’s laws during task performance far from home. Besides, they should also promote traditions of the military and the Vietnamese peacekeeping force, affirm their strong will and competence, thereby beautifying the image of Vietnamese country, people, and military in the international arena.
In addition, Gen. Tan asked them to ensure absolute safety and protect themselves, overcome difficulties and promote solidarity when performing tasks in the host country, hoping that they would successfully fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State, and military.

Briefing delegates on the three officers’ preparation work for their upcoming journey, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) Senior Colonel Pham Manh Thang noted that the department has actively worked with relevant units to select and train to raise personnel quality so as to meet all requirements of the U.N. Furthermore, many officers have also had chance to join training courses abroad to raise their competence. So far, they have all been ready to perform their missions at U.N. peacekeeping missions.
The three officers who are going to implement duties at U.N. peacekeeping missions this time are Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen My Hanh as a senior training officer at the U.N. Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Major Hoang Van Kien as a military observer at the U.N. Mission in South Sudan, and Senior Captain Pham Thi Mai Ngan as a military rations officer at the UNISFA.

On behalf of the three officers, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen My Hanh expressed her honor to take on the duties, promising to excellently perform their tasks. This is her second time to hold the position at U.N. peacekeeping missions.
