Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the event.

The event also drew the participation of Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Border Guard Commander, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Major General Do Danh Vuong, Border Guard Political Commissar, Head of the Organizing Panel and other relevant units of the Ministry of National Defense.

An overview of the conference

During the meeting, involved units reported on their preparations for the third Friendship Border Exchange program. So far, the preparation work has been well implemented as scheduled.

The program is scheduled to take place from August 23 to 26 with the participation of border guard forces of six countries, namely the host Vietnam, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

Particularly, the exchange’s special art performance will be held at the Ministry of National Defense at 20:10 on August 25 and will be broadcast live on VTV1 of the Vietnam Television and other local channels.

The program is a chance for the border guard forces of the six participating countries to meet and share their experiences and models of border management and more.

Concluding the conference, General Nghia highlighted the importance of the program which contributes to promoting peace, solidarity, cooperation and development among the participating countries while raising Vietnamese troops and public awareness of the defense external policy of the Party, State and Army in the current context.

He also asked relevant units to closely coordinate with each other to well prepare for the exchange program.
