At the meeting, Senior Captain Trinh Xuan Tung emphasized that in recent years, the Naval Region 5 of the Vietnam People’s Navy and the First Naval Area Command of the Royal Thai Navy have effectively implemented the joint patrol regulations and maintained efficient communication channels, particularly the hotline system. These mechanisms have enabled timely exchange of information and the effective resolution of emerging issues at sea.

He stressed that, based on the solid foundation of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and long-standing, sustainable cooperation between the two countries, this visit by the Thai delegation has been a success, helping realize the commitment to “enhance exchanges, build mutual trust, and promote friendly and effective cooperation between the two navies.”

Representing the Royal Thai Navy delegation, Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont expressed his hope that the two navies would continuously increase exchange, cooperation, and experience sharing in the coming time. He also hoped to see continued joint patrols that integrate awareness campaigns for Vietnamese and Thai fishermen, encouraging compliance with maritime laws to help maintain security, order, and peace in the waters between Vietnam and Thailand.

As part of their April 2-6 visit to Vietnam, the Royal Thai Navy delegation also paid a courtesy call on the leaders of the Phu Quoc City People’s Committee and visited several local scenic spots and historical sites.

During the visit, officers and sailors from Frigate HTMS Naresuan participated in a young officers’ forum and various exchange activities with officers and soldiers from Brigade 127, Brigade 175, and Naval Region 5 Command.
