The 8th Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange aims to concretize the Vietnam-China joint statement on continuing to accelerate and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, issued during the official visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in November 2022, contributing to consolidating mutual trust and coordination between the two parties, states, and defense ministries.
It is also one of important external activities between the two countries’ defense ministries this year, with a view to enhancing the friendship, solidarity, and substantive cooperation between their border defense forces, local authorities and people in border areas, thereby building a Vietnam-China border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.
As planned, various activities will take place in Vietnam, including the welcome ceremony for the Chinese delegation at Lao Cai International Border Gate, the border marker saluting ceremony, the tree-planting ceremony, the inauguration of the friendship house of culture in Ban Phiet commune (Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province), visiting and handing over gifts to Kim Dong Primary School in Lao Cai city, and the talks between the two delegations.
For the Chinese part, activities will comprise the welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation at Hekou International Border Gate, the border marker saluting ceremony, the tree planting ceremony, the visit to a military unit/a school in Hekou area, and a bilateral seminar.
In addition, prior to the exchange, a series of activities will be carried out, such as providing free health check-ups and medicines for local people in border areas, granting 50 scholarships to disadvantaged students, and giving 10 breeding cows to households with difficulties, among others.
