MND congratulates Cuban Revolution’s 60th anniversary of Giron Victory
PANO – Director of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Vu Chien Thang, on April 16, led a delegation to the Cuban Embassy to Vietnam on the occasion of its 60th anniversary of the Giron Victory (April 19, 1961-2021).
General Thang affirmed that the Giron Victory of the Cuban people held an important meaning not only to the Cuban struggle for national independence, but also contributed to encouraging national liberation movements in the world, including Vietnam.

He noted that Vietnam and Cuba have a special relationship of solidarity, friendship and loyalty, standing side by side with each other in the difficult times of each country and supporting each other to overcome challenges.
Especially, amid the complicated development of COVID-19, the Cuban Party, State and military have supported Vietnam in the fight against the pandemic. Cuba sent top medical experts to Vietnam, presented medicines and held teleconferences to share experience in preventing and controlling COVID-19.
On this occasion, General Thang wished that Cuba would further develop and firmly protect the Fatherland.
For his part, Cuban Defense Attaché in Vietnam Colonel Juan Miguel Garcia Montano, thanked Vietnam for the greetings and promised that despite complicated situations in the region and the world, the friendship between the two countries is always an invaluable asset and will never be changed.
The two sides shared a view that bilateral defense cooperation is an important pillar in the Vietnam-Cuba partnership, contributing to strengthening special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.
