On the occasion of Cambodia’s traditional New Year, the Military Region 5 Commander extended his best wishes for good health, happiness, and success to all officials and residents of Rattanakiri. He also wished the provincial Committee great achievements in the coming year in the country’s construction and development efforts.

General Hai thanked the provincial leadership and people of Rattanakiri for their support in facilitating the search, exhumation, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in wartime. This effort has been carried out effectively by Military Region 5’s martyr remains recovery teams, including Team K52 from the Gia Lai provincial Military Command and Team K53 from the Kon Tum provincial Military Command.

Since the beginning of the 2024-2025 dry season, these teams have recovered 16 sets of remains in Rattanakiri. Additionally, the local government has provided favorable conditions and priority policies for Vietnamese citizens living and working in the Cambodian province.

The Military Region 5 Commander expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation in various areas, including diplomacy, security, national defense, border management, and healthcare.

He particularly emphasized the importance of fostering twinning relationships at the village and commune levels, linking economic development with national defense and security. He also called for enhanced coordination among functional sectors and border forces to patrol and inspect borderlines, markers, trails, and crossings, thereby ensuring the security of the border area.

The Commander of Military Region 5 conveyed his best wishes for the continued strong development of Vietnam - Cambodia and Cambodia - Vietnam relations, particularly between Military Region 5 of the Vietnam People's Army and the Rattanakiri provincial Committee.

* At the Rattanakiri Military Sub-region, General Hai extended his New Year greetings to Major General Muy So Phat, Commander of the Rattanakiri Military Sub-region, as well as to all officers and soldiers, wishing them good health, happiness, and success.

The Military Region 5 Commander expressed hope for continued information exchange between both sides. He also urged the Rattanakiri Military Sub-region to advise the local government on fostering twinning relationships at the grassroots level with Vietnam, integrating economic development with defense and security. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for coordination with the Kon Tum and Gia Lai provincial Military Commands, as well as border forces, to patrol and inspect borderlines, markers, trails, and crossings to maintain security in the border region.

Additionally, he called for joint efforts in caring for the Siamese rosewood trees planted during the 2023 Border Defense Friendship Exchange at the tri-border area. Military Region 5 will continue directing the Kon Tum and Gia Lai provincial Military Commands to strengthen collaboration and information exchange with the Rattanakiri Military Sub-region across multiple sectors in the coming period.
