During the meeting, the two sides affirmed that over the past time, the two countries have strictly observed regulations in the spirit of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation. They have also followed current developments and shared information in border management and protection. In addition, the two sides have worked closely together to effectively fight smuggling, trade frauds, counterfeiting, and the COVID-19 pandemic in border areas.

Reportedly, Cambodia currently has 122 COVID-19 cases of whom 103 have recovered. In Ratanakiri province, no cases of COVID-19 have been reported so far.

Colonel Tran Tien Hai, Commander of the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command, suggested that the two sides should continue sharing information and coordinating in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, the two units should conduct joint patrols to manage border areas.

The Vietnamese side suggested the two continue coordination during the prevention and control of the COVID-19. The Giai Lai provincial Border Guard Command pledged to continue supporting the Cambodian border forces in the time to come.

In support of Covid-19 prevention and control work, the Gia Lai provincial Border Guard Command offered VND 300 million in medical supplies and necessities to the Cambodian unit.
