Addressing the opening ceremony, VNDPKO’s Director Major General Hoang Kim Phung held that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the hospital’s preparation for the training session and the U.N. peacekeeping mission.

However, the VNDPKO has actively and flexibly responded to the situation, collaborated with relevant organs to adjust the schedule and methods, combined experience of domestic experts with updated information at U.N. peacekeeping missions, and organized online and offline training sessions to improve the capabilities of the hospital.

Up to now, the L2FH Rotation 4 has prepared from professional military training to foreign language, pre-deployment affairs, and special contents of the U.N. peacekeeping forces.

General Phung required participants to follow the set plan, apply their acquired knowledge to dealing with all scenarios, and ensure absolute safety during the exercise, especially the COVID-19 prevention and control.

Meanwhile, Major General Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of the Military Medical University stressed that the combined practical training session aims to comprehensively assess the operation and expertise of the L2FH Rotation 4. In addition, it is to help the hospital’s personnel learn more experience from lecturers and foreign experts to better perform their tasks in the time to come.

On behalf of the hospital’s personnel, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Minh Duong, Director of L2FH Rotation 4, said that this is the final exercise before the hospital being deployed to UNMISS and the hospital has prepared well in all aspects. He stated that the hospital’s personnel will determine to fulfill all training contents with best-possible results.

As scheduled, from March 4 to 11, members of L2FH Rotation 4 will practice 25 basic situations sequentially, including common medical cases at UNMISS.

The combined training exercise will cover three stages, namely handling situations on map, dealing with individual matters in the field, and operating the hospital in reality.

During the event, participants will be provided with knowledge by experienced experts of the VNDPKO and the Military Medical University and an international specialist from the E.U.
