Joint patrol held along Vietnamese and Lao shared borderline
PANO – During two days July 6 and 7, Muong Leo Border Guard Station of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command and Border Company 161 of Laos’ Louangphabang provincial Military Command held a joint patrol.
Accordingly, the two sides conducted joint patrol from border landmarks 145 to 158 between the two provinces of Son La (Vietnam) and Louangphabang (Laos) with a length of 32.023km. On this occasion, they checked the landmarks; cleaned up the environment around the border landmarks; shared information, situation and activities of the two peoples and implemented information dissemination activities.
The borderline and border landmarks have been maintained while the two peoples have strictly observed agreement on border management regulations. Therefore, political security situation and social order and safety on both sides along the border have been ensured.
Concluding the patrol, both sides had a meeting to learn from experience and signed a memorandum of understanding. They also mapped out solutions and discussed contents for the next patrol.
This is a regular activity of the two units. The program contributed to preserving and tightening special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos as well as mutual understanding between the two units.
It also helped the two border protection forces promote information dissemination about regulations on management of Vietnam-Laos border areas for the peoples and strictly control illegal border crossings.
