Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, chaired the event at the GS, while General Vong Veasna, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian People’s Army, hosted the event at the headquarters of the General Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

In his remarks, Sr. Lt. Gen. Huynh Chien Thang praised the great efforts of the Signal Corps, the Cipher Department, Command 86, the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and the Signal Command and the Cipher Department under the General Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Metfone company in overcoming difficulties to collaborate and implement the installation of the hotline as planned, ensuring the quality and safety.
The Vietnamese GS deputy chief underscored that over the past time, bilateral defense cooperation has seen practical and comprehensive development, affirming its position as one of the important pillars in Vietnam-Cambodian relations.

To meet the task requirements in the new situation, the GS and the General Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces agreed to establish a hotline to promptly discuss issues of mutual concern. It is an important project, contributing to deepening traditional friendship between the two countries in general and the two militaries in particular.
Sr. Lt. Gen. Huynh Chien Thang required functional agencies of the two militaries to continue to support the above units and agencies in maintaining the hotline between the two militaries. The Signal Corps should closely coordinate with the mentioned units to maintain communication, checking and testing operation to promptly address arising issues; ensure that the hotline is always in the ready position for leaders of the GS and the General Command of the Cambodian People's Army to exchange information.

For his part, General Vong Veasna emphasized good neighborliness and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, affirming the significance of the hotline which will contribute to boosting the relations between the two militaries.
On the occasion, General Vong Veasna sent greetings from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia General Tea Seiha to Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang, and greetings from Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian People's Army General Vong Pisen to Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong.
