Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh

PANO – A high-ranking defence delegation led by Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh officially visited Slovakia from March 17th-19th, at the invitation of Slovakian State Secretary for Defence Milos Koterec.

During the visit, the Vietnamese defence delegation had a talk with Slovakian State Secretary for Defence Milos Koterec, paid a courtesy call to Slovakian Defence Minister Martin Glvac and met State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Peter Javocik.

At the meetings, Slovakian top officials warmly welcomed the Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister and Vietnamese defence delegation and affirmed that the visit contributed to deepening and expanding defence cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister thanked them for their warm reception of the Vietnamese defence delegation and expressed delight with the good results of the visit.

He underlined that Slovakia has had a traditional good and friendly relations with Vietnam since the former federation of Czechoslovakia still existed; therefore, the two nations should preserve and develop the relations. The Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister hoped that the two sides boost defence cooperation in the future, especially in training exchanges of military technological students and sharing experience in training staff officers, military medical, engineering students and UN peacekeeping troops.

The two sides agreed to increase visit exchanges between the two defence organizations and saw the need for a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation, a basis for further cooperation.

The two sides also agreed to bring the bilateral defence ties to a new level to meet the expectations and interests of both countries, contributing to cementing peace and stability in the regions and world.

The Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister invited the Slovakian State Secretary for Defence to Vietnam and he joyfully accepted the invitation.
