General Phan Van Giang receives Canadian defense leader
PANO - On February 20, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, received Ms. Stefanie Beck, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Canada, who was in Vietnam to co-chair the third Vietnam - Canada Defense Policy Dialogue.

During the meeting, General Giang congratulated Ms. Beck on the success of the third Vietnam - Canada Defense Policy Dialogue and extended his regards to the Canadian Minister of National Defense. He emphasized that Vietnam values its relationship with Canada and appreciates Canada’s potential and role on both regional and global stages. He expressed his satisfaction with the positive and substantive development of the Vietnam - Canada comprehensive partnership, which continues to deepen across multiple sectors, in accordance with previously signed cooperation agreements.
Over the past years, defense cooperation has been actively promoted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Canadian Department of National Defense through bilateral and multilateral exchanges. Both sides have effectively maintained dialogue mechanisms, delegation exchanges, training cooperation, United Nations peacekeeping operations, defense industry collaboration, war legacy settlement, and mutual support in regional and international forums.
General Giang thanked the Canadian Department of National Defense for its support in training and participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations, which has helped Vietnamese officers enhance their international integration capabilities and contributed to solving global challenges.
He proposed that, moving forward, both sides should continue implementing existing cooperation agreements, while further strengthening collaboration in training, U.N. peacekeeping operations, defense industry, war legacy settlement, and border management.

For her part, Ms. Stefanie Beck underlined outcomes of the third Vietnam - Canada Defense Policy Dialogue. She also expressed her hope for further strengthening defense ties between the two ministries, contributing to the prosperity of both nations.
