PANO – Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, on September 19 afternoon, received a delegation of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

The visiting Chinese defense delegation, led by Major General Yin Hongwen, Chief of the Office of the Political Work Department, paid a courtesy call to the Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.

At the meeting, the host stressed that the visit of the delegation was part of the outcomes of the August 2016 visit to China of Vietnamese Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich. It also aimed to realize the Agreement on Party and political work cooperation between the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and the former People’s Liberation Army General Political Department, the predecessor of the current Political Work Department under the Central Military Commission of China.

General Cuong also believed that the visit could promote mutual understanding and trust between the two offices of the two armies’ political bodies. Via experience sharing and information exchange, the two delegations could improve the two offices’ abilities of giving advice to higher level leadership and conducting Party and political work in the two armies, he hoped.

The guest reported General Cuong on the results of the working sessions between the delegations of the Office of the Political Work of the Chinese Central Military Commission and Office of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, saying that the two sides effectively shared with each other their working experiences, functions and tasks with the aim of providing efficient assistance to leadership in directing Party and political work in the army.

He also highlighted positive developments over the past years in bilateral defense relations and cooperation between the Vietnam People’s Army and Chinese Liberation Army, adding that the relations had been expanded in terms of both width and depth; as a results, visits of defense delegations at all levels, including defense leaders, commanders of military zones, services, corps and academies, increased in recent years.

At the meeting, the host and guest agreed that the two countries and armies should clearly identify opportunities and challenges to each country in the current complex and unpredictable global context. The two countries should promote strategic trust, comprehensive cooperation and deal with historical and emerging issues between the two countries, according to long-term interests of the two Parties, countries and peoples and benefiting the building of socialism in each country as well as peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and world.

Earlier, the delegation of the Office of the Chinese Political Work Department had also made field trips to several military units of the Vietnam People’s Army.
