Frigate 016-Quang Trung to join sea training events at MILAN 2022
PANO – On February 25, at the Indian port city of Visakhapatnam, the organizing panel of the Multinational Naval Exercise (MILAN) 2022 held a conference to inform the sea phase for the participants.
During the event, the organizing panel announced the number of naval ships of 13 participating countries; departure time; gathering locations at sea; order of the sea training; regulations on communication channels; and marching position of the frigates to take panorama photos.

Accordingly, participating forces will be divided into three tactic groups to perform training programs at sea via two phases. The Vietnamese Frigate 016-Quang Trung is in Group 3 (consisting of seven ships), with France, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, and the host India.
From March 1 to 4, participating naval forces will conduct training at sea over the contents of communication checking, formation maneuvering, underway replenishment, boat training, and rescue, among others.
After the training, the ships will rush to Visakhapatnam port to review their task implementation, refuel and come back home.
During the event, Captain of the Indian Navy’s ship for amphibious assault cum head of Group 3, thanked the countries for joining the MILAN 2022 despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that it is a chance for participating naval forces to promote cooperation, contributing to maintaining a peaceful environment at sea, ensuring maritime security and safety, and handling situations related to maritime security.
In his interview with reporters of the People’s Army Newspaper, Captain of Ship 016-Quang Trung Commander Vu Trong Tan held that the troops have made thorough preparation for the training programs in the framework of the MILAN 2022. These are also regular training tasks of the unit; therefore, they are determined to perform well during the exercise.
