Founding day of Royal Brunei Armed Forces marked in Hanoi
PANO – The Embassy of Brunei in Vietnam held a banquet on the evening of June 28 in Hanoi to mark the 58th founding anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, in the attendance of Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
In his speech, Lieutenant Colonel Omar Shariff Hidop, Brunei Defense Attaché to Vietnam, underscored the sound relationship, including defense ties, between Brunei and Vietnam.
He believed that the two countries would further expand bilateral defense cooperation in the spheres of UN peacekeeping operations, defense industry, military medicine, and personnel training for the sake of peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

Meanwhile, General Tien expressed his delight at the development of Vietnam-Brunei defense relations in delegation exchanges, young officers’ meetings, naval field, and training.
According to the Vietnamese general, the bilateral defense cooperation’s outcomes have considerably contributed to the formation of the ASEAN Community of politics-security, economy, and socio-culture.
He also added that with a high sense of determination, willingness, and efforts, the Vietnam-Brunei defense relations would be further expanded in the coming time.
