In his opening speech, Col. Du emphasized that throughout the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists for national liberation, the Cuban people always stood shoulder to shoulder with Vietnam, offering immense material and spiritual support. The immortal statement by leader Fidel Castro “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood” has become a symbol of the special, loyal, and pure solidarity between the two nations.
He added that today, in the face of difficulties caused by embargoes, natural disasters, and epidemics, the Cuban people still need the shared support of international friends, including Vietnam.
