Defense Minister receives Cuban Minister of Construction

Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang receives Cuban Minister of Construction René Antonio Mesa Villafana.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan also joined the reception.

At the meeting, General Giang stressed that over the past more than 60 years, the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has become an iconic exemplary relationship of the times which has been kept intact.

The Vietnamese defense minister thanked Cuba for its support and sentiments for Vietnam in the COVID-19 fight, considering it a testament to the special traditional friendship between the two countries.

The defense chief highlighted the bilateral defense ties which have been consolidated and developed, becoming a pillar and an example to boost other cooperative fields.

Emphasizing that Vietnam highly appreciates prestige, experience, and strength of Cuba in construction, General Giang said that it was the reason why the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense has decided to select a company under the Cuban ministry to supervise its Truong Son Dong road project.

General Giang confirmed that the Vietnamese ministry will create the best conditions for the two sides to complete the assignments by the two governments and study the possibilities to expand the cooperation in construction.

For his part, the Cuban minister expressed his delight at visiting and working with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. He thanked the Vietnamese ministry for creating favorable conditions for Cuba to get involved in the Truong Son Dong road project.

Minister Villafana expressed the willingness to take part in other projects of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in the coming time.
