Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich receives Special Adviser to the Japanese Cabinet
PANO - General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo, Deputy-Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, on May 11 received Special Adviser to the Japanese Cabinet Koya Nishikawa in Hanoi.
At the meeting, General Lich expressed his pleasure to meet again the Japanese Adviser, and thanked him for his efforts to mobilize the support of the Japanese Government for the negotiation process of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as effectively promote technology transfer and seek markets for Vietnamese agricultural products. The Vietnamese Defense Minister also thanked the Japanese adviser for his promotion of defense relations between the two countries, particularly in military medicine.

The Government and Vietnamese people always attach much importance to developing comprehensive relations and cooperation with Japan, including the defense relations, he said. Gen. Lich hoped that in his position, the adviser will continue to help the two countries attain more practical achievements in defense cooperation, particularly in military medicine.
"Vietnam has experienced a long war time, leaving many serious consequences to the country. I hope that Japan will help Vietnam overcome war-left consequences through the Japanese Government’s official development assistance (ODA)," the Vietnamese Defense Minister added.
For his part, the guest thanked the host for the warm welcome, and expressed his pleasure at the development of the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, especially the defense cooperation between the two countries over the past time. He also evaluated highly the Japanese Defense Minister's visit to Vietnam in early May, and hoped that the two Ministries of Defense will effectively implement the cooperation contents agreed upon by the two Defense Ministers. In overcoming the consequences of war, including dioxin cleanup, the Japanese Adviser promised that he will seek and mobilize Japanese partners to cooperate with Vietnam in this field.
Earlier, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich also received the Director of Kurume Chuo Hospital, and discussed possibilities of cooperation in treatment, as well as in technology transfer on cancer treatment at Vietnam’s military hospitals.
