At the meeting with the Thai Deputy Defense Minister, General Lich thanked Thailand for supporting Vietnam in the country’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 and for sharing experience in organizing defense and military activities and conferences with Vietnam.

For his part, General Chaichan Changmongkol highly appreciated Vietnam’s preparations for and successful organization of the ADMM Retreat. He expressed his support for Vietnam in the ASEAN Chairmanship Year and promised to realize all contents of the joint statement of the ADMM Retreat on combating against the acute respiratory disease caused by novel coronavirus.

Expressing delight at the fine development in bilateral defense cooperation, General Lich and General Chaichan Changmongkol agreed to continue to effectively implement such cooperation contents as delegation exchange, young officer meeting, defense policy dialogue and maritime security cooperation.

At the meeting between General Ngo Xuan Lich and Vice Admiral Agus Setiadji, the two sides highlighted the fruitful outcomes of bilateral cooperation over the past time in delegation exchange, training, information sharing, and cooperation in services and arms.

They agreed to continue maintaining delegation exchange at all level, raising the effectiveness of dialogue mechanism, fostering cooperation activities between arms and coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums, especially defense and military activities hosted by Vietnam in 2020.

At the meeting, Vice Admiral Agus Setiadji highly appreciated Vietnam’s initiative to issue a joint statement on defense cooperation in combating COVID-19.
