At the meeting, General Hun Manet highlighted the support of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry for the Cambodian Defense Ministry in general and the Royal Cambodian Army in particular over the past time.

The guest also briefed the host on the outcomes of his meeting with the Vietnam Border Guard Command. He highly appreciated the results of cooperation activities between the border protection forces of the two countries, saying that those achievements contributed to building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. General Hun Manet added that cooperation between the Royal Cambodian Army and the agencies and military units of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry also reaped fruitful results, contributing to consolidating the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship.

Sharing the same view with General Hun Manet, General Chiem spoke highly of the outcomes of bilateral cooperation over the past time, hoping that the Royal Cambodian Army and the agencies and military units of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry will take this occasion to review their cooperation and discuss measures to combat schemes to sabotage the traditional friendship between the two nations. He affirmed that Vietnamese defense leaders will always support and create the most favorable conditions for military agencies and units to foster cooperation with the Royal Cambodian Army.

On the same day, General Chiem received General Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Gendarmerie, on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam.

The two generals said that Vietnam and Cambodia share the border, so they have some common defense and security issues. They also highlighted the effective cooperation between the Royal Cambodian Gendarmerie and the military agencies and units of Vietnam, including Military Region 7, the Vietnam Border Guard Command, the Military Internal Security Protection Department under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), and the Department of Military Training of the VPA’s General Staff. They affirmed that those achievements contributed to strengthening cooperation between the two militaries in general and among these units in particular.
