Defense leader checks preparations for Vietnam Inl’l Defense Expo
PANO - On the morning of May 29, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, a meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Vietnam International Defense Expo 2020 was held under the chair of Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.
At the meeting, the representatives of relevant agencies and units reported the preparation and discussed a number of proposals to complete their assigned tasks.
Addressing the meeting, General Vinh spoke highly of the relevant agencies’ and units’ preparations for the expo. He stressed that the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2020 will be a highlight as Vietnam assumes the ASEAN Chair and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020 – 2021 term.
This is a good opportunity for Vietnam to showcase its weapons and other military equipment produced by defense industry companies, thereby increasing trust of the people in the national defense capabilities, the military’s self-confidence, and introducing international friends to the country's defense industry potential. The successful organization of the expo will pave the way to hold similar events in the future.
General Vinh also asked relevant agencies and units to continue to work closely with each other to make good preparations for the event while ensuring security and safety for participants and showcased equipment.
The expo will take place in Hanoi this October on the occasion of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM Plus, to be hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.
On display, will be weapons and other military equipment produced by domestic defense companies and famous international defense groups from ASEAN and around the world.
Particularly, within the framework of the expo, a flight demonstration by military aircraft will be held for the first time, which is expected to attract a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.
