On the afternoon of the same day, General Giang paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Sen warmly welcomed General Giang and the entourage to the Kingdom of Cambodia. He stressed that the visit was of great significance for the implementation of cooperation contents agreed by the two sides’ senior leaders in recent years. The visit was said to contribute to strengthening and developing the Vietnam-Cambodia bilateral relations.

General Giang thanked Prime Minister Hun Sen for the reception and congratulated the host on Cambodia’s great achievements in various aspects of life over the past time.

Giang then briefed the Cambodian Prime Minister on the cooperation results between the two armed forces over the past time, including such contents as search and rescue in border areas, training for Cambodian officers, cooperation in land and sea border management, search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, and more.

Highly appreciating the recent cooperation results, Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that defense cooperation is one of the important pillars in the fine Vietnam-Cambodia relations. He held that Vietnam and Cambodia should strengthen solidarity, considering it as a treasure that needs respect and promotion in any circumstances.

Regarding defense cooperation in the coming time, the host suggested the two sides enhance cooperation in existing fields and proposed that Vietnam support Cambodia with human resource training. He attached great importance to building a good border management force and maintaining a borderline of peace, stability, and development.

Prime Minister Hun Sen affirmed that the Cambodian Government and the Prime Minister himself would create favorable conditions for the militaries of the two countries to effectively implement agreed plans and contents in the coming time.
