Addressing the closing ceremony at the National Military Training Center No.4, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Head of the steering board of CEPPP-2023, emphasized that the active and effective participation of 18 international delegations from ADMM+ countries contributed to the success of this program.

He thanked the Japanese Ministry of Defense for close coordination with the Vietnamese side to co-host the event and expressed his belief that via ADMM+ cooperation mechanism, particularly activities of the EWG PKO, countries will enhance cooperation and improve peacekeeping capabilities to make effective contribution to upcoming U.N. peacekeeping missions.

He highly praised the participation of experienced experts and instructors, their close-to-reality lectures, and typical scenarios which participating military observers, engineers and military medical personnel had to deal with.

On behalf of international delegates, Ms. Masuzawa Tomoko, Director for Defense Cooperation in the Indo - Pacific Region at Japan’s Ministry of Defense, head of the Japanese EWG PKO, and co-chair of the ADMM+ EWG PKO Cycle 4, thanked the host Vietnam for the hospitality and thoughtful reception and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations for their support during the organization of the program.

According to the Japanese official, the program met the goal of enhancing the partnership and cooperation in peacekeeping among countries. She underlined the uniqueness of the event which gathered military observers, military engineers, and military medical staff. She confirmed that CEPPP-2023 became a great family thanks to commitments, contribution, sharing of thoughts, experience, and skills of participants. She said that the program created a chance for the trainees with the majority of them having not engaged in U.N. peacekeeping operations before to join a comprehensive training program in the field.

“We will together continue to contribute to global peace and security,” Ms. Masuzawa Tomoko said.

The success of the program which was a large-scale one in terms of personnel and vehicles from 18 ADMM+ countries demonstrated the support of countries to Vietnam as the host and the co-chair, thus confirming the country’s role, prestige, position, and contribution in multilateral cooperation mechanisms on U.N. peacekeeping in the region and within ADMM+, contributing to upholding peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

The success of this end-of-term activity will be reported to the ADMM+ meeting in Indonesia this November.
