Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Medicine, underlined that the program is a practical activity toward the first Vietnam – Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange, showing the sentiments and responsibilities of the Vietnam People’s Army as well as the Department of Military Medicine towards the Cambodian people.
Through the free health check-up program, Vietnamese and Cambodian medical staff have a chance to exchange and share experience in medical profession, so as to raise the competence of the two sides’ military medical sector, he added.

Also, the program contributed to consolidating the friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries’ militaries and the peoples.
At the event, Colonel Giang required Vietnamese agencies to closely work with Cambodian units to effectively organize the program, ensuring safety and security, following COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.

During the free health checkup program, the Department of Military Medicine apply modern medical supplies and equipment in COVID-19 testing, medical examinations, X-ray screening, ultrasound, electrocardiogram (ECG), and so on.
Apart from providing free medical checkups, medical forces offered health counseling and medicines, and presented gifts to local people.
By 14:00 on May 9, the medical delegation had conducted medical examinations for more than 600 Cambodian people.
