PANO – Nearly 500 Cambodian people have been benefited from the free eye tests and surgeries conducted by a Vietnamese medical team at Preahket Mealea Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Ophthalmic Hospital conducted the program, which was part of activities within the framework of the ongoing Vietnam-Cambodia Trade Fair from October 6 to 10 in Phnom Penh.
During 4 days, the working team overcame quite a few difficulties and set up modern equipment and machinery to deploy eye surgeries as PHACO advanced techniques; and provided eye screening tests and surgeries for 300 local patients, and medicines for 200 others.
Addressing the event, General Ly Sovann – Director of Preahket Mealea Hospital, highly valued the support of Vietnam’s Military Hospital 175 in transferring modern medical technologies, training local medical personnel and treating high-ranking officers of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces since 2007.
He underscored that these activities have contributed to fostering solidarity, traditional friendship between the two armies and peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia.
