Border Guard Command asked to promote defense external relations work
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, on March 2, worked with the Border Guard Command on the implementation of defense external affairs in border areas to foster relations between Vietnam and its neighboring countries, such as China, Laos, and Cambodia.

During the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Nam, Border Guard Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, briefed the Deputy Defense Minister on achievements in cooperation between Vietnam’s border guard and its neighboring countries’ border forces to build the border of peace, stability, friendship, and development.
General Vinh asked all border units to thoroughly grasp the situation to draw up the list of core missions in the coming time, and tasked the force to focus on defending national sovereignty, ensuring effective enforcement of law in border areas, combating crime, consolidating the borderline and border posts, and strengthening relations with neighboring countries. In addition, border guard units should pay further attention to raising locals’ living standards.
