ASEAN to hold first joint military exercise
PANO - The military chiefs of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) have agreed to hold joint military exercise in the North Natuna Sea, Riau Islands (Indonesia).
This information was announced by Admiral Yudo Margono, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, on June 7.

This will be the first joint military exercise among ASEAN member states, he added.
As scheduled, the exercise will take place in September, with the focus on maritime security and rescue (SAR), and social services in the Natuna region. The event will gather the ASEAN armed forces in the army, navy and air force.
According to Admiral Yudo Margono, the exercise aims to show ASEAN centrality and it will not include any combat operations training.
