At the meeting, around 50 delegates from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) focused discussion on strategic competition among powers, regional geopolitical changes ,and opportunities and challenges for ASEAN’s central role.

They also shared views on political and security situations in the region and the world, emerging security issues in the region and defense cooperation for a cohesive ASEAN.

Addressing the meeting, General Vinh expressed his belief that the close and effective cooperation between ASEAN defense and security institutions and centers would effectively contribute to strengthening regional defense cooperation at present and in the coming time. 

Agreements at the meeting will be important contents of the agenda for the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting. Vietnam and other ASEAN members will suggest new proposals to further promote intra-bloc relationships and strengthen political and security systems in the region for peace and development.
