As planned, the two frigates 015-Tran Hung Dao and 016-Quang Trung (Brigade 162, Naval Region 4) sailed to the firing range of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet in the morning.
All crew-members were prepared to carry out the captains’ orders. In a high combat readiness posture, naval navigators on the two vessels reported ship positions, shooting positions, and hydro-meteorological factors such as wind direction, wind speed, ambient temperature, barometric pressure, and air humidity, which could affect targeting missions. Different divisions on board, including navigation, artillery-missile, and radar-sonar, closely worked together to ensure smooth operation of technical equipment and weapons of the ships.

Right after the event, Deputy Political Commissar of Brigade 162 Naval Commander Mai Van Doanh presented flowers and gifts to encourage shooting commander Naval Senior Lieutenant Pham Ngoc Dat and gunner Tran Van Dung.
Along with previous training phases at home, the live-fire training in Russia helped the contingent hone their shooting skills according to the competition regulations and requirements. This was also an opportunity for them to assess technical equipment and weapons ahead of the Army Games 2021.
