The event was attended by Major General Vu Van Sy, Director of the Department of Military Training under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, CISM officers, and delegates from 90 member nations.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Gen. Sy stressed that the event not only assessed the CISM organization's activities in 2018, discussed orientations for its activities in the coming time, but also promoted friendship, solidarity among countries towards harmonious and prosperous development, thus contributing to building a peaceful world.
During the five-day event, all contents of the agenda were conducted and completed scientifically as planned.
The 74th CISM General Assembly and Congress left a good impression on the participants and contributed to enhancing solidarity, peace, friendship, cooperation and development through sports between the Vietnam People’s Army and the participating militaries.
Gen. Sy also stressed that the success of the event affirmed the ability, determination and responsibility of the Vietnam People's Army in hosting the event, and showed the Vietnamese people’s and military’s hospitality toward international friends. The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense would continue to promote defense cooperation, including via sport activities, for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development with the other countries' people and militaries in the time to come, he added.
According to Colonel Herve Piccirillo, CISM President, the 74th CISM General Assembly and Congress adopted many important contents, organization's strategic documents, as well as orientations for its activities in the next five years to build a specific roadmap for the development of CISM. Particularly, this year's event also welcomed the participation of two new members, namely Ghana and Mozambique.
