PANO – During his visit to the United Republic of Tanzania, President Truong Tan Sang on March 10th met with Speaker of Tanzania’s National Assembly Job Ndugai.
At the talks, President Truong Tan Sang congratulated NA Speaker Job Ndugai on being elected as the Speaker of Tanzania’s National Assembly and expressed his confidence that with his role and prestige, NA Speaker Job Ndugai will contribute effectively to further promoting the friendship and cooperation relationship between the two countries. The Vietnamese official also hailed the socio-economic achievements of Tanzania, under the wise leadership of the Tanzania’s Party of the Revolution, over the past 50 years.
President Truong Tan Sang informed the Speaker about the outcomes of the talks with President John Magufuli, during which the two sides agreed to put more stress on collaboration in agriculture, telecommunications and trade, laying the foundation for the two countries to expand their cooperation to other fields.

NA Speaker Job Ndugai introduced President Truong Tan Sang to the National Assembly of Tanzania and confirmed that Tanzania considers Vietnam a close partner. He went on to express his hope of further developing cooperation with Vietnam’s National Assembly, including exchange of delegations.
President Truong Tan Sang and NA Speaker Job Ndugai then agreed to strengthen relations between the two national assemblies, enhancing delegation exchanges.
The Vietnamese official then conveyed the invitation of Vietnam’s NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to the Tanzanian NA Speaker to visit Vietnam. NA Speaker Job Ndugai accepted the invitation with pleasure.
* Earlier the same day, President Truong Tan Sang and his entourage visited Benjamin Special Economic and Processing Zone in Dar-es-Salaam, one of the most effective economic zones in Tanzania. The zone expects to attract more foreign investors, including investors from Vietnam. Visiting some factories in the zone and listening to reports on investment policies of Tanzania, President Truong Tan Sang spoke highly of the achievements over the past nearly 15 years of implementing the policy of foreign investment attraction of the country.
* Earlier, on March 9th, President Truong Tan Sang met Tanzania’s Vice President and President of Zanzibar, the semi-autonomus part of Tanzania, Ali Mohamed Shein.

Vice President Ali Mohamed Shein expressed his pleasure at meeting President Truong Tan Sang again after his visit to Vietnam in 2012. He said he highly appreciates the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Tanzania, admires the achievements in the economic development of Vietnam, and expressed the hope to learn from Vietnam’s experience in rice production, aquaculture and seafood processing. Zanzibar in particular would always welcome foreign investors, including Vietnamese enterprises.
President Truong Tan Sang thanked the hosts for the warm reception and said that Vietnam is willing to cooperate with Zanzibar in such areas as trade, investment, agriculture and telecommunications.
He suggested the two sides mobilize financial resources for agricultural and seafood projects in Zanzibar and boost cooperation between Zanzibar’s localities and Vietnamese coastal provinces.
* Also on the afternoon of March 9th, President Truong Tan Sang visited the headquarters of the Party of the Revolution and met with the Party’s Chairman Jakaya Kikwete.
At the meeting, President Truong Tan Sang expressed his pleasure at meeting Chairman Jakaya Kikwete again after his official visit to Vietnam in 2014. The Vietnamese official thanked the Party for its support in particular, and the support of the Government and people of Tanzania in general, for Vietnam in its struggle for national liberation in the past and the current national construction and safeguarding.
Chairman Jakaya Kikwete said he was very impressed with the success of Vietnam though the countries both started reforms in 1986. The Chairman went on to express hope to learn from Vietnam’s experience.
* On the afternoon of March 10th, President Truong Tan Sang visited Halotel, a joint venture of the military-run telecommunication group of Vietnam, Viettel, in Tanzania. On behalf of the officials and employees at the company, Halotel Director General, Lt. Col. Do Manh Hung briefed the President of the business activities of the company and promised to do their best to effectively conduct the company’s business plans.
President Truong Tan Sang hailed the efforts of the officials and employees at Halotel and expected that Halotel would reach all its set targets in the coming time.
