VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga presents the order to WLP Executive Director Susan Marie Hammond.

Over the past 25 years, projects run by Susan Marie Hammond and WLP have benefited the recipients and contributed to healing the wounds of war. More significantly, the projects with financial support from US veterans and their families helped relieve the war’s pain for both Vietnam and the US.

In order to recognize her considerable contributions to the development of the Vietnam-US friendship and people-to-people exchange, the Vietnamese State President decided to present the “Friendship” Order to Ms.  Susan Marie Hammond.

Addressing the hand-over ceremony, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga highly appreciated the devotions of Hammond and WLP to Vietnam, adding that VUFO would accompany Hammond, WLP and other foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to foster friendship between Vietnam and countries around the world.

For her part, Hammond expressed her hope that Vietnam would soon address all consequences left behind by the war.
