Meeting with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering W. Sherpa on November 25, Thang commended the progress of bilateral cooperation, particularly since the elevation of ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016. He highlighted the academy’s pride in hosting the India Research Center, a joint initiative of the two countries’ leaders that underscores Vietnam’s high regard for the relationship.

He noted that Ambassador Sherpa’s tenure begins at a significant moment as both countries prepare to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership, and proposed that the two sides co-organize a workshop to review the decade-long cooperation framework.

Ambassador Sherpa said the two countries share a common vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific. He put forward several proposals to deepen cooperation with the academy, including convening a conference to review the 10-year partnership, developing specialized capacity-building programs, co-publishing a commemorative book, and inviting the academy’s leadership to visit India.

The ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between the academy and Indian partners.
