Vietnam, South Africa cooperate in crime combat
The Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam (SPPV) and the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa (NPA) have agreed to cooperate in crime combat through rapid and effective criminal judicial assistance.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed during talks between the SPPV delegation and representatives of the NPA in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 11.

Under the MoU, the two sides will also exchange delegations to maintain and enhance friendship and mutual understanding, share experience and discuss prosecution-related issues.
They will join hands in training to improve capacity for prosecutors, especially in witness protection, and exchange legal and judicial documents.
At the talks, Vietnam’s Prosecutor General Le Minh Tri expressed his delight at the fruitful development of relations between Vietnam and South Africa, and between the two agencies in particular.
The signing of the MoU aims to create a legal framework for collaboration between the prosecution agencies of Vietnam and South Africa, especially in crime combat, thus helping spur socio-economic development in each country.
The affiliation is also expected to contribute to consolidating and strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and South Africa on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, he said.
Silas Ramaite, Acting National Director of Public Prosecutions of South Africa, noted his hope that the two sides will continue with their close coordination in order to effectively realise the document.
The Vietnamese delegation is in South Africa to attend the 23rd International Association of Prosecutors (IPA) Annual Conference from September 8-14.
