Thang welcomed the Governor-General’s visit and highlighted the upgrade of Vietnam - Australia ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, stressing that cooperation in personnel training, capacity building and knowledge sharing forms an essential pillar of the relationship.

He noted that the HCMA and leading Australian universities and research institutes have developed effective cooperation mechanisms, with the Vietnam - Australia Center at the academy serving as a bridge for joint research, scholar exchanges, and official and manager training programs.

Expressing his appreciation for Australia's support in the fields of official training and knowledge sharing, Thang said he is confident that the achievements gained in bilateral cooperation, particularly in training, capacity building and the exchange of knowledge, will serve as a solid foundation for mutual understanding, the building of strategic trust, and the fostering of a friendly, cooperative and sustainable partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

Mostyn expressed her delight at visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the country’s 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, and commended Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in its pursuit of independence, freedom and prosperity.

She underlined that Vietnam remains a key partner of Australia in the region, with collaboration in official training and knowledge exchange being a priority area.

The Governor-General highlighted the importance of personnel development in today’s multicultural international environment, and expressed her confidence that, building on the strong foundation of cooperation and with the support of both governments, the HCMA and the Vietnam - Australia Center will continue to act as a key hub for academic exchange and leader and manager training.

An overview of the meeting

She affirmed that these efforts will further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia, making it deeper, broader, more substantive and effective.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed priority areas of cooperation, particularly public sector reform, knowledge sharing among senior leaders, and collaboration in education and development, with a view to advancing shared priorities in the coming period.

Vietnam and Australia are also expanding cooperation in national governance, climate change response, energy transition, women’s empowerment, education and sustainable development, contributing to the shared vision of a comprehensive, sustainable and prosperous future for both nations.

Thang and Mostyn also exchanged views on strengthening ties between the HCMA and Australian partners, as well as activities under the project on establishing and strengthening the capacity of the Vietnam - Australia Center.
