Poland’s President Andrzej Duda begins his four-day State visit to Vietnam
The visit manifests Poland’s wish to step up the traditional
friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
It seeks to boost cooperation across
fields of both sides’ interests and benefits, especially trade, investment,
development cooperation, and defense.
On the occasion, the two sides will
exchange information and measures to coordinate and support each other at
regional and international forums.
Poland has placed importance on Vietnam’s role and position in its foreign
policy towards Asia, considering Vietnam
a leading partner in Southeast Asia.
Poland is Vietnam’s
top trade partner in Central Eastern Europe, while Vietnam
is Poland’s
seventh largest trade partner outside the EU.
Two-way trade hit 790 million USD in
2016, of which Vietnam’s
export revenue to Poland
was 598 million USD. In the first nine months of this year, bilateral trade
value reached 730 million USD.
As of October 2017, Poland had 14 investment projects in Vietnam,
with total capital of 182.88 million USD. In 2014-2017, Poland’s investment in Vietnam doubled, mainly in real
estate, processing and services.
Vietnam has invested in four projects in Poland
worth about 5.1 million USD, specializing in services and food industry.
Currently, about 40,000 Vietnamese
are living in Poland,
contributing to ties between the two countries.
