Deputy-PM hosts outgoing US Ambassador to Vietnam
PANO - Deputy-Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception for outgoing US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius on October 31 in Hanoi.

Deputy-PM Minh highly valued the US Ambassador’s active contributions to the development of the two countries’ relationship in various fields.
He highlighted the outcomes in trust-building, development of the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in an intensive manner while respecting each country’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, political institutions, win-win cooperation, enhancement of bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment as a key in their relationship, further cooperation in humanitarian activities, especially in overcoming the aftermaths of war and more people-to-people exchanges.
Deputy-PM Minh also hailed the upcoming visit to Vietnam of US President Donald Trump, expressing his belief that it would reinforce the two countries’ relationship and make positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole.
For his part, outgoing US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius spoke highly of the fruitful relationship between the US and Vietnam in bilateral, regional and international aspects, including cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The US Ambassador highly appreciated Vietnam’s role in multilateral forums and its preparation for the APEC Year 2017, emphasizing that the hosting of APEC events by different localities demonstrate Vietnam’s dynamism and activeness.
He hoped that US President Donald Trump’s impending visit to Vietnam would deepen the two countries’ partnership and contribute to maintaining the US’s commitment to the region. He said that the US Embassy in Hanoi will closely cooperate with Vietnamese side to make the visit successful.
