Congressman Jimmy Panetta suggests boosting cooperation between the US and Vietnam
PANO – The Vietnamese Ambassador to the USA, Pham Quang Vinh recently paid a visit to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, the US.
At the meeting between the Vietnamese diplomatic mission and leadership of the school, Ambassador Vinh expressed his hope that relations between Vietnam and the US would further develop in the future. He also suggested promoting bilateral defense cooperation, particularly naval exchanges and cooperation activities between the US Naval Graduate School and relevant Vietnamese partners.

Meanwhile, Rector of the US Naval Graduate School, Vice-Admiral Ronald Route proposed concrete approaches to promote bilateral cooperation in education and training, including both long and short courses on maritime security, UN peacekeeping operations, cyber security as well as relief and rescue operations.
At the meeting, Congressman Jimmy Panetta, a member of the United States House of Representatives for California's 20th congressional district, highly appreciated the development of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership over the past years as well as Vietnam’s increasing position in the region.
He hoped to see more positive developments in bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as the State of California and Vietnam, particularly in education and training, trade, agriculture, and science and technology.
