British businesses donate over VND 500 million to VYPA to fight COVID-19
PANO - The British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) on April 13 in Ho Chi Minh City donated over VND 500 million to the Vietnam Young Physician’s Association (VYPA) to support the COVID-19 fight in Vietnam.
The money, donated by BBGV members, will be used to purchase 2,700 N95 masks and 2,000 protective suits to support healthcare workers and people working at 5 major hospitals and testing institutes, namely the Central Hospitals for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Pasteur Institutes of Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Hanoi.
According to the BBGV Vice-Chairman Alex Falter, the donation represented the group’s appreciation to Vietnamese government's efforts to keep all safe in this unprecedented health crisis.
Addressing the ceremony, Ian Gibbons, British Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City, also expressed his appreciation to the Government of Vietnam for its huge effort that is being made, collectively, in tackling the pandemic.
He emphasized that “The UK, including UK businesses, would like to ensure its full support and cooperation with Vietnam to get through this unprecedented coronavirus challenge.”
Thanking the UK businesses for their meaningful gift, Dr Phan Minh Hoang, VYPA Vice President hoped to have further collaboration with the BBGV in community services in the coming time.
