Viettel strives to be a global telecommunications group
PANO – Viettel has been a strong military business which has made remarkable contributions to increasing potentials of the Vietnam People’s Army in particular and the nation in general. It has an effective development strategy and gathers a contingent of professional staff who are prepared to undertake and fulfill challenging missions.

Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense gave those compliments to the staff of the military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel) during his meeting with the group on March 9.
General Don recalled the military business’s strong responsibility for strengthening the economy and defense industry and stressed that in the coming time the group should promote creativity to make more achievements and focus on building a complex specializing in manufacturing high-tech industrial and defense products.
According to Major General Nguyen Manh Hung, the group’s General Director, last year, Viettel revenue was VND 228,000 billion. It contributed VND 40,521 billion to the State budget. At present, Viettel is investing in 10 countries with 100 million customers. The group is now capable of manufacturing high-tech weapons and equipment to serve the army.
During the meeting, General Hung also suggested some policies needed to further build the military business into a global industrial telecommunications group.
