Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang tours Viettel’s booth at the fair. |
Viettel was one of the more than 70 businesses and organizations from Vietnam and Laos participating in the fair, presenting modern technological products and services designed to enhance convenience and improve the daily lives of local communities.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang visited Viettel’s booth and received a detailed introduction to the product.
The attention from the Ministry of National Defense leadership underscored the high regard for digital technology applications to enhancing logistics performance and promoting digital transformation in Laos.
Viettel’s automated sorting robot system can move at speeds of up to 2 meters per second and carry loads of up to one ton. It integrates sensor technology and QR-based positioning, allowing collision avoidance and precise navigation within warehouse environments while minimizing human intervention. This advanced technological solution optimizes the sorting and classification process in logistics facilities, boosts operational efficiency, and is estimated to reduce operating costs by 40% compared with traditional methods.
Earlier, in October, Viettel launched the Unitel Logistics brand in the Lao market. Unitel Logistics is designed to become an integrated logistics enterprise that fully applies digital technologies to supply chain management and operations. Its goal is to build a comprehensive logistics service ecosystem offering convenient user experiences for both individuals and businesses in Laos, from door-to-door parcel services to transport options, warehousing solutions, and value-added services tailored to customer needs.
Within the framework of the event, Viettel also showcased several digital solutions currently supporting Laos’ daily digital transformation efforts. These included the U-Money e-wallet, used by over 1.8 million people, which provides cashless payment services, money transfers, phone top-ups, and online public service payments, thereby promoting financial inclusion and improving quality of life in Laos.
Other products and services on display included the LaoApp super-app, designed and customized by Viettel for the Lao market, integrating entertainment, news, shopping, and lifestyle services; LaoTV, the first OTT television service in Laos offering a wide range of online video and live TV content; the LaoHealth platform for the healthcare sector; and the LaoEdu system supporting digital transformation in education.
