Viettel Gia Lai basically restores mobile stations after Typhoon Kalmaegi
PANO - Typhoon Kalmaegi caused severe damage to the branch of Military Industry-Telecoms Group in Gia Lai (Viettel Gia Lai) with 600 out of 1,657 stations losing signal or power, while the optical fiber network was disrupted, affecting nearly 50% of communes and wards in Gia Lai Province.

In response, right after the storm, Viettel Gia Lai mobilized all available manpower and equipment, backup generators and replacement devices to restore services. Technical teams were assigned to be on duty around the clock in key areas to ensure signals were restored as quickly as possible. Up to now, Viettel Gia Lai has basically completed the restoration of its mobile stations affected by the storm.
Additionally, during the province-wide power outage, Viettel Gia Lai set up free mobile phone charging points for residents. At all transaction offices, generators and necessary equipment were operated through the night to help people stay connected.
Director of Viettel Gia Lai Lieutenant Colonel Phung Van Man stated that the prevention and overcoming of the consequences of Typhoon Kalmaegi was carried out in a unified, innovative, and decisive manner under the direction of the Viettel.

Right before the storm, Viettel Gia Lai activated its emergency response system at the highest level. During and after the storm, it mobilized more than 1,000 personnel, 200 generators and 750 batteries, to clear roads, refuel, splice and reconnect cables throughout the night. Thanks to these efforts, Viettel Gia Lai’s response efforts were highly effective, ensuring stable communications for customers as well as for local party committee, authorities, and armed forces to direct and coordinate in disaster relief operations, the officer said.
