According to Viettel Telecom, though it is not required to subscribe to a 5G package, hundreds of thousands of users have opted for 5G plans over the past two weeks. Most of them have switched to 5G plans to experience faster speeds and get special offers from Viettel. Users can continue to use 4G services without interruption when getting out of 5G coverage areas.
Viettel Telecom Director Nguyen Van Son said that after commercialization, the number of 5G users is 2.5-fold higher than that of 4G users. On average, a 5G user consumes nearly 8.5 GB data per month. Meanwhile, average data consumption in the world is around 20-25 GB per month.
Viettel is the first provider of 5G network in Vietnam. Its 5G service is now available in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
In the time ahead, with expansion in infrastructure and continuity of optimization, 5G performance will stabilize. 5G service not only serves individual users, but also opens up the potential for developing real-time services, promising to create many breakthrough applications in the future.
At present, Viettel offers 11 prepaid 5G packages and eight postpaid ones with costs equivalent to 4G packages, double in capacity and free premium contents.
