Major Phung Van Man, Director of Viettel Gia Lai, highlighted that the 5G service was launched just six months after the group obtained the license for the 2,600 MHz frequency band. At the time of the 5G launch, Viettel had over 6,500 BTS stations, covering key areas across 63 provinces and cities, along with industrial parks, tourist areas, seaports, airports, hospitals, and universities.

Viettel's 5G network delivers speeds between 700 Mbps and 1 Gbps, which is ten times faster than 4G, with nearly zero latency. Viettel has implemented both 5G NSA (non-standalone) and 5G SA (standalone) technologies.

Although Viettel successfully deployed 5G NSA in 2019, 5G SA is considered the true 5G network, operating independently from 4G technology. In addition to high-speed data transmission, 5G SA supports ultra-low latency of around 1 ms, which is 20 times faster than traditional 4G and enables instant-response applications such as autonomous driving, remote surgery, remote control in smart factories, and virtual reality classrooms.

Viettel has also developed open APIs (providing data, configuration capabilities, and interaction with the 5G network) in compliance with GSMA standards, allowing application developers in Vietnam and worldwide to innovate on the Viettel 5G platform.

For business customers, Viettel has announced more than 130 user cases, providing tailored solutions across various sectors, including industrial manufacturing, smart cities, transportation and logistics, agriculture, healthcare, education, and energy. These solutions integrate cloud, AI, and IoT technologies into the 5G platform with high-density connectivity capabilities.
